"This is a time to roll up our sleeves…to organize, to mobilize, and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice and the future that we all know we can build together. Many people feel like we are entering a dark time. But only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. Let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars. The light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service. And may that work guide us even in the face of setbacks toward the extraordinary promise of the United States of America. "

The People's March 2025
January 18, 2025
Two days before Donald Trump's 2025 inauguration for a second term, a large rally took place in Washington, D.C. The People’s March 2025 brought together a diverse coalition of groups advocating for women’s and minority rights, immigration reform, climate action, and other social issues. The large protest highlighted widespread opposition to the incoming administration, uniting activists across various causes in a powerful display of dissent. The march underscored the growing tensions surrounding Trump’s inauguration and the deep divisions in American society.
Findlay's Carole Elchert went on the March and she reported:
"The January 18 Peoples March in Washington with 28 Northwest Ohio citizen-activists made me hopeful and delighted again with what is true about America. I was grateful to walk with the joyful faces of all ages and beliefs; to see the creativity of signs & posters, like walking literature with dazzling ironies, sharpened wit, indisputable facts of history; to hear Union workers singing Woody Guthrie songs; to listen to the 14-year-old, who demands as many rights as guns; to join mothers and fathers holding their children, showing us whose world we are struggling to protect, defend, preserve; and to witness the truly splendid honesty of carrying one’s love into public action."
